Under £10

A third of the collection sits here, and it is where the good small presents are. Dad Jokes cards at £4.99. A beer fridge magnet at £4. Dog-shaped paper clips at £3. A Wee Dram bamboo socks at £6.99. Buckfast chocolate at £8, which is either the funniest thing you will buy this year or a genuine favour, depending on the dad. Distillery soap is £8.50.

Wallets and Harris Tweed

Twenty wallets, most of them Islander and Maccessori Harris Tweed, woven in the Outer Hebrides. A tartan card zip wallet is £12.99 and a sky blue pop-up card wallet £24. At the top end, the Carloway backpack in blue tartan is £80 and the most expensive thing on this page.

Art prints

Our single biggest category for him, at 34 pieces. Sara Willia Landscapes do the atmospheric ones, and Aegir's Rest, an Iceland landscape, is £27. The Colours of Scotland by By Tilly is £21. Framed or not, a print is the present that actually gets looked at every day.

Whisky, beer and Scottish things

A spinning glass and whisky stones set is £15. There is a Sleepy Hollow mug at £17, a medium sheep in a flat cap and blue and green tartan at £22, and Och Wheesht And Get Oan Wae It at £5.99, which is a book and also a philosophy. For the desk, a Lumos oval walnut clock is £59.95.

Prices run from under £2 to £80, with nothing at all between £45 and £60, so if that is your budget you are choosing between a good print and a very good clock.
