Birthdays

By far the deepest section, and the reason most people end up here. Ohh Deer make about half of what we stock and they are very good at the ones that get a laugh: the Secret Favourite Child card, the 50th, the ones you would not send to your mother. There are die-cut Highland cow birthday cards from Neon Magpie at £3.50 if you want something more Scottish about it.

The other occasions

A curated handful rather than a wall of them: new home, new baby, engagement and wedding, thank you, get well, congratulations, anniversary and sympathy. We would rather stock six good new home cards than sixty forgettable ones, so if you need something for a specific occasion it is worth a look but not guaranteed. Scottish landscapes and illustration

Around 65 designs from independent illustrators, and the part of this collection we are proudest of. Sara Willia Landscapes, Charis Raine Illustration, Neon Magpie and By Tilly between them cover lochs, bothies, cottages, Highland cows and Loch Ness. Several are the same artwork as the art prints we sell, so a card is a cheap way to try a print before committing to one.

The sweary end

There is one, and it is not small. If you are buying for a work colleague or a grandmother, read the front before you get to the till. If you are buying for the friend who would find that funny, you are in the right place.

The ones that are not really cards

Fifteen Spiracle Audiobook in a Card titles at £12, which is why the price range on this page looks odd. They are a proper greeting card with a full audiobook inside, Frankenstein and Jane Eyre among them. A good present for someone who commutes or cannot manage small print any more.

Cards start at £1.50. Everything is picked by hand for our shop on King Street in Stirling. We post across the UK and delivery is free over £50, though a card on its own is rarely worth the postage, so most people add one to a gift.

Frequently asked questions

How much are your cards?
Almost all of them are £3. A handful are £1.50 to £2.95, a few of the die-cut ones are £3.50, and the audiobook cards are £12.

Do you gift wrap?
In the shop we wrap every purchase in tissue paper so it is ready to give, and we have a good selection of gift bags to buy alongside it. We do not run a separate gift wrapping service. There is more in our FAQs.

What is an Audiobook in a Card?
A greeting card with a code inside that unlocks a full narrated audiobook. The recipient scans it, and the book is theirs to keep. Better than it sounds, and one of the more original £12 presents we sell.
