Exchanges

Changed your mind on the colour, or picked the wrong size? We’re happy to sort it. We don’t do a direct swap, so it works like this: send the original back for a refund using the steps above, then place a new order for the one you’d rather have. Same 30 day window, and it works the same way whether you’re in the UK or overseas.

Contempo is built on a clear and intentional set of values that guide every buying decision, supplier partnership, and customer interaction:

Originality – We avoid anything generic or overdone. We seek the unique, the overlooked, and the surprising.

Curiosity – We’re led by that “ooh, what’s this?” moment. If we’re excited, you will be too.

Playfulness – Whether it’s a cheeky candle or a pun-filled notebook, we believe our products should make you smile.

Design-Led Thinking – We obsess over how things look and feel. Beautiful packaging, clever design, meaningful form—these matter.

Inclusivity – Our shelves reflect a spectrum of personalities, tastes, and price points. Great design shouldn’t be elitist.

Independence – We champion small makers, independent brands, and ideas that don’t follow the crowd.

Two classic games, one handsome little box, and a lid that turns into the board.

Checkmate packs a full chess set and a full set of checkers into a compact wooden box. The peg-style chess pieces slot neatly into the board, so nothing slides about mid-game. A smart pick from our gifts for him, though anyone who loves a strategy battle will be delighted.

It looks good enough to leave out on the coffee table and small enough to take on holiday. Pair it with something from our birthday gifts for a thoughtful present.

• Chess and checkers in one wooden box
• Peg pieces lock firmly into the board
• Lid doubles as the playing board
• Dimensions: 14.3 x 14.3 x 3.3cm
• Compact enough for travel

Set up the board and make your opening move.
