Meet the herd.

There's no such thing as one Highland cow gift. There's the plush one that gets carried everywhere until its fringe goes flat, the socks that get a laugh at seven in the morning, and the mug that quietly becomes the only mug they'll drink from. For the very small

Blade & Rose's Hamish and Bonnie coos have taken over our baby rail: socks from £3.50, plus leggings, rompers, bibs, booties, sunhats and winter hats. Soft, washable, and very hard to walk past.

For the coo-daft grown-up

Angus the Highland Cow is the one we'd take home ourselves. Beyond him there are bamboo socks, enamel pins, keyrings, a hot water bottle with a proper fringe, and slippers you'll struggle to take off again.

For the house

Sass and Belle's shaped mug and little vase do the job without shouting about it. There's a notebook, cards and wrapping paper too, for when the gift needs finishing off properly.

Nothing at all. "Hairy coo" is just what we call them up here, and we think it's the better name.
